We humbly request your mutual aid to help provide equitable abortion access and keep EACH going.

We intentionally chose not to file EACH as a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Instead, EACH’s approach is a mutual aid, employee-owned cooperative. This means our staff hold equal positions within the company and benefit equally from our success. Instead of relying on rigid and unstable funding and pandering to out-of-touch board members, we answer to and are funded by our community members and staff. Think of it like grassroots organizing and funding.

At EACH, we believe price transparency is important. Our flat rate price provides patients with a robust package of medication and supplies, runs our business costs, pays our small staff fairly, and contributes to the ongoing sustainability of EACH (including growing our abortion fund!). You can see a cost breakdown here.

Mutual aid (noun):

The voluntary pooling of community funds and resources for a common benefit.

Still not convinced?

Here are some reasons why we’re not a 501(c)(3):

  1. Nonprofits often get away with paying their employees less by hiding behind their mission.

  2. Nonprofits tend to be less flexible. In our ever-changing legal environment, abortion providers need to be agile.

  3. Large nonprofits perpetuate the cycle of “the rich get richer”. Giant organizations rake in all the dollars because they’re high-profile and leave other organizations doing good work in the dust.
