Frequently Asked Questions

 FAQs

  • Medication abortion ends a pregnancy with two medications:

    • Mifepristone blocks your body’s progesterone and stops the pregnancy from developing further

    • Misoprostol expels the contents of your uterus

Medication abortion is a safe and effective way to end a pregnancy. It is 91-98% effective, depending on how long you have been pregnant and how you take the misoprostol.

  • Pills in advance (sometimes called advanced provision), is when someone receives abortion medications before they become pregnant. Should that person become pregnant in the future, they can use their previously acquired medications to end their pregnancy.

This can be beneficial to patients who are concerned they may not be able to access medication abortion options when they need them.

  • Once your medication is shipped, you will get a tracking number.

For medication abortions, we ship with FedEx Priority (2-3 days) by default. If you would like your medications within 1-2 business days, you will need to pay for FedEx Express shipping. Medications are shipped by our mail-out pharmacy, Honeybee Health.

FedEx Priority is $15 for 2-3 business day delivery (include in our $215 fee).

FedEx Express is $35 for 1-2 business day delivery (incurs a $20 additional fee).

Because pills in advance are not time-sensitive, they will arrive in 7-10 business days via USPS. Shipping costs for pills in advance are included in our $75 fee.

  • We do not currently provide telemedicine abortion care to people who:

    • have been pregnant for 11 weeks or longer

    • are under the age of 18 at the time of their appointment

    • are mailing their medicine to an address outside of Colorado

Additionally, we do not provide telemedicine abortion care to people with:

    • Confirmed or suspected ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy outside the uterus)

    • History of ectopic pregnancy, tubal ligation, or other tubal surgery

    • Intrauterine device (IUD) in place

    • Current long-term systemic corticosteroid therapy

    • Chronic adrenal failure

    • Known bleeding disorder or anticoagulant therapy

    • Inherited porphyria

    • Intolerance or allergy to mifepristone or misoprostol

We do not recommend people with the above conditions using pills in advance.

  • An ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy that grows outside the uterus, usually in a fallopian tube. Medication abortion does not treat ectopic pregnancies. If you have an ectopic pregnancy, you will most likely need to be seen in an emergency room.

Symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy include:

    • One-sided pelvic pain, possibly with accompanying feeling of lightheadedness

    • Pelvic pain that radiates to your shoulder

    • Persistent pregnancy symptoms after completing a medication abortion

    • No (or limited) passage of blood or tissue during a medication abortion

If you use mifepristone and misoprostol to end a pregnancy without ultrasound imaging, there is a small chance that you could have an undetected ectopic pregnancy (1-2% of pregnancies are ectopic).

  • Yeah, we know it’s not ideal, but Colorado regulation requires a “live” interaction between patient and provider.

A phone call is not required for pills in advance.

  • Due to the legal climate (not great) and EACH’s small staff (we’re only human!), we are currently only able to serve patients in Colorado. We hope to expand to other states in the near future!

  • EACH not the right fit for you? No worries! You can find the right abortion provider for you at Abortion Finder.

  • Please use the Legal Repro Helpline: reprolegalhelpline.org

  • EACH was created in response to the national abortion crisis that exploded after the Dobbs decision ending Roe v. Wade. We saw a need for more access to compassionate, fact-based, and equitable abortion care. While we currently only serve patients in Colorado, we are looking to expand services into other states.

Additionally, EACH is a cooperative LLC meaning all staff are equal owners in the business. This creates more equitable working conditions and it means every employee is intrinsically interested in the wellbeing of the business and our patients.

  • A medication abortion with EACH is $215, which includes everything you will need. We know that can be out of reach for a lot of people and it’s most important to us that you get the care you are looking for so please let us know if that is not affordable for you today (there’s a place on our intake form where you can indicate your ability to pay).

Pills in advanced cost $75 with EACH. We don’t typically offer a sliding scale for pills in advance at this time.

  • Pricing transparency is important to us! Here’s how your money is spent:

    Medication abortion

    • $100 for your medications, including shipping

    • $30 for our operating costs

    • $60 to pay our staff

    • $25 to our abortion fund

    Pills in advance

    • $65 for your medications, including shipping

    • $10 for operating costs

  • Pills in advance are less expensive than if you are already pregnant and seeking abortion care because:

    • The medication packages are different (pills in advance only include mifepristone and misoprostol vs medication abortion includes those two medications PLUS ibuprofen (pain managment) and ondansetron / Zofran (anti-nausea)

    • The pills in advance package does not include an at-home pregnancy test

    • A phone call with our clinician is not required for pills in advance

    • There is simply less time associated with mailing pills in advance vs medication abortion
